Facilitation

Facilitation uses a variety of processes to help a group improve:

identify business issues/problems;
develop innovative solutions to solve those problems;
make decisions; and
effectively implement the chosen decision.

A facilitator leads the group through this process and is chosen for:

their experience;
neutrality regarding the issue and the group that they will work with;
ability to diagnose the situation;
ability to apply the right process to the facilitation issue; and
ability to build rapport with the group.

Sage Allan Pty Ltd has facilitated many group processes over the years covering business issues such as:

business strategy;
strategic plan development (1 year and 5 year);
vision and mission development;
team/association charters;
business structure;
alliance panel assessment and alliance formation; and
team engagement.

We use a variety of dialogue and deliberation processes as well as standard facilitation techniques. We find these techniques enable us to help groups:

remain focused and on track;
achieve the purpose that was set for the conference or workshop; and
develop innovative solutions and responses to the issues posed in the workshop/conference.

As an example we may sometimes blend open space technology techniques for problem identification and team engagement or use appreciative inquiry for strategy days. Scenario planning we use for team efficiency for standard business and strategic planning development processes we will use traditional visioning and strategic planning tools.
